WHO WE ARE

Sister District Project organizes volunteers in deep blue areas (such as New York City) and matches these local districts with one or more ‘sister districts’ across the country to turn state legislatures from red to blue! Every ten years, the results of the National Census trigger redistricting in the states. Elections in 2019 and 2020 will be the last chance for Democrats to gain power in state legislatures prior to redistricting in 2021. Because state legislatures control the redistricting process in 37 states, over the next two years Sister District will focus on “last chance” races in states where whoever is elected will determine the voting maps and rights for the next decade.
